| Cathead Biscuit is Mighty Jeff Carey (guitar, resonataor, lap steel, bass drum and lead backing vocals). Formed when the two met in 2004 while Jeff was hosting a acoustic blues jam at a local coffee house. After jamming together week after week, they decided to play some gigs together and Cathead Biscuit was formed. Mighty Jeff Carey is from originally from Hope, Arkansas. From a early age, he played all through northeast Texas, northern Louisiana and southern Arkansas - playing all types of music as he developed his own style. His bands, Rock Bottom and the Kicking Dogs, played shows with Savoy Brown, Black Oak Arkansas & Billy Joe Shaver. Jeff moved to Rogers Arkansas in 1997 and formed the blues trio the Pocket Rockets. Later he along with Mike Murray formed The Groove Kings. By 2001 he was doing solo shows in the area and fronting the Ozark Blues Society house band at their weekly blues jams. In 2004 he was a semi-finalist at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, competing against other acts from around the world. Mark Bokun is from Lake Charlesarea in southern Louisiana. Being a army brat his travels with his family open his eyes to many sights and sounds that influenced his music. His love for cajun and blues music gives his style a very unique quality. Very rhythmic with old school leads and fills.. Mark says I really got into rhythm and blues listening to my brothersÕ Clint West & the Boogie Kings, Bobby Blue Bland, G.G. Shinn and the Roller Coasters vinyl albums, but the Paul Butterfield Blues Band definitely lit something in my soul. After playing around Louisiana he moved to the Ozark mountains near the Steel Creek area. Mark then began playing in bands and duos in the Harrison area. He also has played with local acts Zack Bramhall, the Tyrones, Jen B. & the Groove Kings, Back Stage Pass, and the Eclectones with George DuCharme Cathead Biscuit were simi-finalist at the 2005 International Blues Challenge after winning the Blues Society of The Ozarks Memphis Bound Competition. Mighty Jeff Carey also made to simi-finals in the 2006 International Songwriting Competition for his song ÒAinÕt going nowhereÓ. They continue to play in and around the Fayetteville & Eureka Springs area. Playing at clubs, outdoor patios and private parties. |
